Typically, this idea is translated to democratic governance but Michels restricted his original work to political parties. Indeed, his work is truly limited to just socialist parties. WebbMany studies suggest that the causal forces that determine candidate preferences fall into two broad categories, those internal vs. external to the minds of voters. Factors within voters’ minds include: (a) predispositions that are in place before a campaign and (b) cognitive and affective reactions to events during the campaign.
